ABOUT AVI Broadband
The AVI Broadband Consortium was created in 2021 through the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program. These resources were made possible through the Bi-partisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), to provide broadband planning and infrastructure deployment to tribal communities throughout rural Alaska. These tribes either did not have access to broadband or affordable service. These resources help bridge the digital divide between parts of rural Alaska and the world.
There are fourteen villages funded for services under the 2021 “Round 1” program and a total of sixteen member villages composing the AVI Broadband Consortium. Those additional villages joined after the application deadline for NTIA “Round 1”.
our services
AVI Broadband Consortium provides broadband resources and services to qualified tribes and villages. These resources vary and may include:
Community broadband planning
Community infrastructure deployment & installations
Service subsidy planning
Training
All depending on local tribal governments, tribal members may be eligible for our exclusive consortium “Starlink Broadband Package”. This includes all Starlink hardware, antennae and modem installation and help-desk & customer service assistance.
Some villages have advanced broadband planning and are working with the Consortium to develop village-specific broadband plans. Some villages may choose to use resources to make broadband affordable for those who cannot afford broadband offered by other providers.
